XD motion and nOgravity partner to offer the Microlight Live, a new aerial platform designed to operate in the airspace between helicopters and drones. This innovative service integrates a highly maneuverable microlight aircraft with advanced gyro-stabilized systems for long lenses and large sensors, enabling stunning live transmissions via 5G and Starlink. The platform combines exceptional versatility with an eco-responsible footprint, operating with a low carbon footprint (12 liters/h) and being six times quieter than a helicopter.

The microlights are built by the world leader in their category, ensuring maximum safety and agility for every project. The aircraft can be equipped with the advanced GSS Cineflex 512 and XD cam L gyrostabilized heads, delivering perfectly smooth shots for broadcast and cinema.

Flight & Performance

  • Altitude: Operates from 1 up to 5,000 meters.
  • Speed: Capable of both slow and fast flight, from 75 km/h to 150 km/h, with the ability to reach 180 km/h in a dive.
  • Autonomy: Offers a flight time of 3 hours and 45 minutes, allowing for extended and uninterrupted shooting sessions.
  • Low Noise Profile: Operates with a noise level of only 70 dB, making it ideal for sensitive environments, events, and wildlife.
  • Eco-Friendly: Maintains a very low carbon footprint, consuming only 12 liters of fuel per hour.

Technical & Operational

  • Weight & Payload: The aircraft has a maximum weight of 450 kg and allows for a payload of up to 220 kg for equipment.

Logistics & Regulation

  • Flexible Landings: Requires only a short take-off and landing distance, with the ability to operate from fields, dedicated microlight airfields, and certified airports.
  • Easy Transport: The entire system is designed for mobility and can be transported by air, road (on a trailer), or as freight.
  • Minimal Authorizations: Requires zero standard flight authorizations, except for special missions in military zones and protected natural zones.

Do’s ✅

  • Track subjects in freefall at high speeds (180 km/h).
  • Film 30 minutes before sunrise and 30 minutes after sunset.
  • Land on snow, sand, and water.
  • Fly in formation with specially trained “imprinted” birds.
  • Obtain special waivers for flying over major cities and for night flights.

Don’ts ❌

  • Stationary hovering is not possible.
  • Flying in winds exceeding 45 km/h is not permitted.
  • The aircraft seats only the pilot and camera operator; directors cannot be onboard.
  • Exceeding 150 km/h in horizontal flight is not possible.
  • Flying in the rain requires a specific dome protected head for camera protection.
